What is Hermes Agent?
Hermes Agent is an open-source autonomous agent from Nous Research. It runs on your own hardware or cloud, remembers across sessions, writes and improves its own skills, runs scheduled jobs, and talks to your team over chat apps. It works with the model providers you choose.
Is this official Nous Research training?
No. This is independent training and implementation. I use Hermes in production every day and teach what works. For the software itself, the official docs at hermes-agent.nousresearch.com are the source of truth.
Do we need engineers on staff?
No, but it helps to have one person who owns it. The Rollout trains an owner on your side and leaves runbooks so the agents don't depend on me.
Where does our data go?
Hermes runs on infrastructure you control. You choose the model provider, including private or local models. Part of every Rollout is a written security review: which tools each agent can use, what needs human approval, and where credentials live.
What kind of work can agents take on?
The best first candidates are repetitive, rules-heavy and easy to check: inbox and ticket triage, weekly reports, website and content maintenance, CRM follow-up, monitoring and alert summaries, research briefs. We pick them in the Clarity Session by return and risk.
How is this different from Copilot or ChatGPT seats?
Seat tools help one person in one window. Hermes runs on its own schedule, keeps memory, uses your tools, and hands work back through the channels your team already uses, so the work gets done even when nobody opens a chat.
